Europe Needs AI Infrastructure. Cleyrop Wants To Build It

Artificial intelligence is advancing at an unprecedented pace, reshaping industries, economies, and global power structures. But while AI models and applications are evolving rapidly, the infrastructure that powers them is struggling to keep up, especially in Europe.

The reality is stark: Europe is falling behind in AI-ready infrastructure. Unlike the US and China, which have built vast, AI-optimized cloud ecosystems, Europe remains heavily reliant on foreign cloud service hyperscalers like AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud. This dependence raises critical questions about sovereignty, security, and sustainability.

Can Europe power its digital future without relying on non-European cloud providers? And if so, what kind of AI infrastructure does Europe need?

These are the challenges that Arnaud Muller, co-founder of Cleyrop, has dedicated himself to solving. His company provides European public and private organizations with sovereign, AI-ready data storage and management solutions.

Beyond his role as CEO, Muller is a vocal advocate for European technological independence. He was recently appointed to the Advisory Board of the Innovate Europe Foundation (IE.F), an initiative focused on strengthening Europe’s position in deep tech, cloud infrastructure, and cybersecurity.

Leading up to the Paris AI Summit Business Day, I spoke with Arnaud Muller to discuss Europe's infrastructure challenges.

“The Innovate Europe Foundation is an independent voice for European tech sovereignty. We are united by two things: recognition of how far behind Europe has fallen and the belief that we can regain economic strength by reigniting our ability to innovate and create global technology leaders,” he explained.
