What: Monga is a Proptech startup that has developed a platform to help property managers and residents manage maintenance issues. Its SaaS tool digitizes the management workflow through an app that allows tenants to make maintenance requests. The platform then centralizes and filters these technical requests for real estate pros. Finally, it connects property managers with relevant repair people and allows them to manage the project.

Why: Property managers spend almost 70% of their time managing maintenance requests from tenants and often both sides are left frustrated. Managers are overwhelmed while tenants are upset that repairs take so long. Each request from a tenant can be complex, even for small issues, and requires the involvement of multiple parties who must be coordinated. Managers must balance the urgency of each request with the potential costs. In addition, the craftspeople who do different types of repairs represent a highly fragmented industry and it can be hard to find information about their areas of expertise and fees. By facilitating the maintenance request workflow and creating an ecosystem of repair people for a manager, Monga believes it can sharply reduce the time spent and make the overall repair process far more efficient.

Who: Co-founders are Avidan Koubi (previously with the real estate division of Louis Capital Markets) and Kevin Valensi (formerly head of sales for Bob! Desk, a building maintenance platform).

Seed Round: €2 million

Investors: Axeleo led the round with a cohort of business angels that included Pauline Duval, General Manager of Duval Group.

What's next: Monga will use the Seed round to expand its tech and product teams to further refine its platform and add new features. It's also adding to its sales team. And the startup, which is focused on France for now, is in the early stages of launching in neighboring countries. Monga is hiring for 20 positions.
